MediaWiki
(this page is a stub)MediaWiki is a very popular PHP/MySQL WikiEngine wiki engine, whose success comes mainly from projects (like the Wikipedia) that run on this engine. Because of Wikipedia's success, the majority of users tacitly assume that MediaWiki is the only free PHP engine for running a wiki-site. There is a large number of wiki engines, coded in different languages and developed to meet different kinds of need.
The aim of the table below is to compare the most prominent features of WikkaWiki and MediaWiki. This list is far from exhaustive: the best way to understand what wiki engine fits your needs is to install it and give it a try.
