Greetings from the Dog Yard

My name is Doug. I'm an elementary school teacher from Alaska. I'm using Wikka Wiki as a digital notebook, a place to keep my lesson plans and files. I also have an installation for my students.

I am not a web developer - just a teacher who wants to use socially enbabled software to find out if maybe there is a better way to do things. It seems that the more I learn, the more I want to do.

And so I am becoming...progressively...a geeky teacher.

Hi Doug,
Welcome to Wikka! Glad to see you can after all access this site! ;-)

If you poke around this site you'll find you're not the only 'geeky teacher' here either (hint: look up GmBowen) but geeks and non-geeks are equally welcome.

Small hint: please follow convention here and add 'CategoryUsers' at the bottom of your page to join the user pages.

Ouch. I guess one can never escape the pocket protector.....

Hiya Doug. I've got a colleague in Newfoundland who is setting up a project encouraging teachers to work on collaborative classroom research...I'll pass on the url of your site to her.

regards,

gmb

Doug,
The 'The specified file could not be opened.' error from onyx-rss you refer to on http://borderland.northernattitude.org/2005/05/02/unsolved-mysteries/ simply means that the feed URL specified cannot be opened. Could it be something as simple as a typo in the URL?
Maybe you can give / show us the URL you were using so we can have a look.

You may want to check out Moodle (http://www.moodle.org), a socio-centric educational CMS (open source, of course!) that might give you some new ideas to think about!
