Wikka wont start - failing to initialize session handler

Symptoms

After succesfully configuring the wiki Wikka (database connects just fine, and all else seems to run fine) you can click on a link to 'your newly created site'.
But it doest.
Fatal error: Failed to initialize session module in /var/www/wikka/wikka.php on line 1150

Cause

Clueless..

Analysis

There seems to be the need for session handling.

Technical explanation

Not known to me...

Applies to

Cases where the "session.auto_start" variable is turned off the "php.ini" file - not sure, but was true in my case.

My configuration fyi:

• Debian stable (woody)
• Wikka version 1.1.6.0
• PHP Version 4.1.2 here is my phpinfo∞

Edit your php.ini and change the option "session.save_handler" to:
session.save_handler = files
