Why are the floating boxes so damn big?

Floating boxes they're so big, they're so big, they're so big... Make them smaller, can you ;D? So, what if you make a randomwikipage link that doesn't point anywhere? Should it be some red colour or something?
I see, I see.. *fiddles with own skin* I don't have anything to show that the page has a bad link :O!

How Does it support Chinese?? 中文支持如何??
Not perfectly but we're making progress with internationalization and UTF-8 support. Page names can only be (mostly) ASCII characters, but you can make forced links in multi-byte characters, and text shows up OK. To test, try using the search box (at the page bottom) to search for 中文 (Chinese): you'll find several pages - so even the search works. Some of this requires a few fixes that will be in version 1.1.6.0 - to be released soon. Also see WikkaSites: there's already a bunch of Chinese sites using Wikka.

Note the UTF-8 characters may disappear (and be replaced with ???... or "character soup") when someone edits a page with a browser that doesn't support UTF-8 (or isn't configured to use utf-8); I just repaired the Chinese text here (again) -- JavaWoman

    Short specs on machine:

    The HPLJ 8000 DN is a black and white, 24 pages per minute (ppm) laser printer. It has 2 automatic paper trays and a manual feed tray which will accept paper sizes up to A3 and 11x17. The printer is capable of manual and automatic duplexing. Both the PPL and the DCL have a HP located in their labs.

    Start-up and Shut down procedures:

    To power the printer on and off, you will need to locate the button on the front and lower left-hand side of the printer. Press this button and let the printer warm up. It should be good to go.

    Setting up the Printer in OS X

    1. Open the Printer Setup Utility, either in the dock or in System Preferences, and click on the icon to add a printer.
    2. Choose Appletalk as the protocol and the FE Gannett Building Zone, and select the SPM_HPLJ8000 Hold Queue? as the printer.
    3. For the Printer model, choose HP, and choose the HP Laserjet 8000 Series as the model name.
    4. Click Add to add the printer to the printers list and make the printer the default if it is not already.

    Setting up on machine and printing a job:

    Once you select the PPD, all you have to do is go to page setup and make sure you have the correct printer, paper size, the correct orientation and number af copies you would like printed.

    1. Open up the print menu in your application by
    using the menu File > Print.
    2. In the dialog box, select the SPM_HPLJ8000 Hold Queue. The remaining page size information (ie. letter
    portrait) is dependent on the job being printed.
    By doing this all of the settings will be
    automatically set.
    3. Click the preview tab.
    Check the preview tab before any output to ensure proper print out. Here is an example of an incorrect preview, to correct it, change the orientation under the setup tab.
    4. Click Print

    Manual Print Setup

    If you are printing from an applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, or Macromedia Freehand, the print dialog will have to be set up manually. Be sure to go through every window in the page setup and print dialog windows, this will ensure proper out put on the first attempt.

    Releasing a Job

    To release a print to one of the HP LaserJet 8000, go to the hold queue and follow these steps:

    1. Ask the customer which job is theirs. Select their job and hit the “” button (Figure 2).
    2. Another window will pop open (Figure 3). Ask the customer if they want their print sent to the PPL printer or the DCL printer. Select which printer they want and click, “OK.”
    3. The print is still not released yet. To release it to the selected printer, hit the green arrow button (Figure 4). The print will now be released

    Canceling a job:

    There are 2 main reasons to cancel a job:
    1) If you can not ascertain how to fix a problem (the attention light on the printer control panel is flashing red).
    2) Someone has sent a large job that takes too much time to process and is holding up the print queue. Processing is indicated when the Data Light flashes green, repeatedly.

    To cancel a job, simply press the peach-colored “Cancel Job” button on the right-hand side of the control panel. Any jobs in the queue will need to be resent. Users can check their Print Monitor’s to know if their job has been cancelled or not.

    Loading Paper

    The 3 paper trays are marked for separate paper sizes. Tray 1 is the manual load tray, meaning it accommodates custom paper sizes, transparencies, envelopes, labels or other types of media (any size less than A3 or 11x17). Tray 2 is for letter paper (8.5x11) and Tray 3 is for tabloid paper (11x17). Avoid adding or removing media from any of the trays while the printer is printing, this will minimize paper jams.

    Tray 1: Open the tray on the right-hand side of the printer, pull out the tray extension if needed. Adjust the paper width guides to the appropriate size marked on the tray. Place paper in the tray but do not stack it higher than the paperfill mark.

    For single-sided printing, place paper in tray with the side to be printed on, face up. The top of the page should be facing the rear of the printer. For two-sided printing, place paper with the front side down. When using pre-punched paper, load it with the holes toward the inside of the printer tray. Load letter paper with the long edge of the page leading into the printer. Load envelopes, legal, 11x17, A3, B5, B4 paper with the short edge of the page leading into the printer.

    Tray 2 & 3: Pull tray open until it stops. Jog a large stack of paper (no more than 500 sheets) and fit into tray. Close drawer completely. To avoid paper curling during printing, turn the stack of paper over.

    Common Problem: Users accidentally send a job to Tray 1 when they intend to send it to Tray 3. To adjust this error, use the Value button on the Control Panel of the printer.

    Paper Jams
    A paper jam is indicated via a message on your monitor as well as on the printer control panel. A dialog box will appear on screen telling you a paper jam has occurred. The printer’s attention light will be flashing red and the control panel will indicate where to look for the paper jam. Usually you must open one of the printer doors and remove the crumpled paper. After doing this, close the printer and resend your job

    Maintenance:

    Cleaning the Printer
    It is recommended that the printer should be cleaned every time the toner cartridge is replaced, after printing 6,000 pages, or after repeated print quality problems occur.The outside is to be cleaned with a damp, soft cloth.The inside should be cleaned with a lint-free, dry cloth. Do not used ammonia-based cleaners.

    Common errors/what to do...

    Toner Messages
    When “Toner Low” flashes on the control panel screen or poor print quality occurs (such as banding or fading) the first thing you should do is remove the toner cartridge, agitate it and return it to its initial position. This action disperses the remaining toner throughout the cartridge, making better quality/more prints possible. The “Toner Low” message may not disappear but image quality should improve. When print quality starts to deteriorate, even after shaking the cartridge, it must be completely replaced.

    Removing the Toner Cartridge
    1. Open the top cover of the printer and remove the used toner cartridge.
    2. Open the new toner cartridge and place the used cartridge in the original bag. Rotate the new cartridge and shake it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner in the cartridge.
    3. Find the sealing tape tab on the end of the cartridge. Bend the tab back and forth until it dislodges from the cartridge. Pull the tab straight out from the cartridge and remove the entire length of tape. Do not touch the black toner on the tape.
    4. If the tab separates from the tape, grab the tape and pull it out of the cartridge. Place the agitated cartridge in the printer. Slide the cartridge into the printer as far as it will go. Close the top cover of the printer.
